Planning a Funeral

Arranging a funeral can feel daunting, particularly if it’s something you haven’t had to do before. Here at Caldwell's Funeral Services we understand what a difficult time this is and it’s our main aim to help and guide you through it.

Step 1 - Call us

Immediately after death

On our first contact we will ask for preliminary details and arrange for the conveyance of the deceased to our funeral home.

Step 2 - Meeting

Within 1 day

We would then ask, at a time and place to suit the family, for our funeral director to call at your residence and arrange the funeral to a standard and order that meets your needs.

Step 3 - Burial or Crememation

During our initial meeting

If you choose a burial for your loved one, we will help you to purchase a new grave or re-open an existing one. We will liaise with the cemetery’s representatives to organise this. If you choose a cremation for your loved one, we will organise the additional documentation which needs to be completed and signed before a cremation takes place.

Step 4 -Preparation of the Deceased

Prior to the Ceremony

Hygienic treatment and attendance to the deceased are also carried out by our experienced staff. We can prepare and dress the remains in accordance with your wishes in our funeral home.

Step 5 -Death Notices & Flowers

Prior to the Ceremony

We will assist with the preparation of a death announcement and ensure its publication in your chosen newspaper. Death notices are accepted by Local and National newspapers. If donations are requested in lieu of flowers we will accept and list donations on your behalf and forward them in due course to a charity of your choice.

Step 6 -Music Selection

Prior to the Ceremony

We will advise and arrange for the appropriate music, soloists and musicians preferred by you and the family. We will inform the venue of your choices and print these on the order of ceremony leaflets

Step 7 -Post Service Catering

After the Ceremony

Following the funeral ceremony, we can arrange some light refreshments for the mourners, either at the family home or at another venue. We can advise of suitable venues and if required liaise with the chosen venue on your behalf. A large range of catering equipment, crockery & furniture is also available for your needs both prior to and after the funeral service or ceremony.
